I was struck by how similar some of these details in the Helix Nebular are to Herbig-Haro objects. It makes me wonder if there isn't some similarity in the two processes involved.

Those "tadpoles" in the Helix nebula and the jets spurting out from young stars (Herbig-Haro objects) are two very different phenomena.

Yes, which I noted in my post. However, they do have a very similar appearance. Usually, when liquids or gasses give the same appearance, similar process are at work even though the source of that process is very different. These "tadpoles" appear to be swirling ejecta.

Apparently, I was not the only one struck by these structures.

Okay, now I am going to say that we have good reason to say that there is reason to believe that these structures and Herbig-Haro objects have much in common.
