Paul's looks more like a big dot. The OP (5th photo) looks like the Moon, Venus, and another object shining on Venus. I'll take a nap soon to clear my eyes.
Very cool photos, by the way, gentlemen.

Looks like something plus scope-shake to me. The moon shows the same shake, although being larger it has less effect on the shape you see. I don't think it's Venus, too far separated from the sun.
