View Full Version : Re-registering

While at work, I logged into my home email. I clicked on a link from BAUT, which brought up the webpage. I logged into BAUT to respond. I closed the webpage. I clicked on another email link from BAUT. I went to respond, and it asked me to log in again (which is understandable). I did, but it kept telling me my user name was wrong (sorry, I can't remember the exact verbiage). I thought this odd.

I then displayed the BAUT main page. It said I was already logged in, yet, I was unable to post. I exited out of Internet Explorer, and then re-opened it to get it to work correctly again. I guess this is not a problem, but it might confuse others like it initially did for me.

Deleted this statement - ToSeek answered my question.

Why does it do this? It never used to before the merge.

Mahesh is having similar problems:

thank you for your email. yes i can't seem to log on at BAUT from our home computer.
just keeps asking me to log on, again and again...
i could, before the merger, and regularly received newsletters from UT, now i don't at all.

Any suggestions?

I figured one part out - maybe. When I use my work computer, I don't check "remember me" when logging into the BAUT. Even though I close the window to the BAUT, IE still thinks I'm logged on. I have to totally log off of Internet Explorer to release the connection. Could it be the cookies? I think this is what is the issue for me. I'll test it when I get to work tomorrow morning.

I had that.

Thanks, papageno. :)

I didn't have time to test it this morning.

Did you completely log off of any type of Internet access (from home)? Perhaps, try to reboot your system.

yah, i do log off / turn off the system when not in use. Flynn uses it to play his games etc on it, after school. But i am doing something wrong/ also i've stopped receiving the newsletter at home. everything was ok before the merger...

oh i don't know...i'll look at it again when i have some time later in the week.

thanks any way Candy! it is nice of you

It's strange that the site recognizes you but won't let you post. What browser are you using? Did you install Firefox like I suggested? Once again, that URL is http://www.mozilla.org

Dumb question, can you post as mahesh1 from home?

Fraser / Candy

i'll use it later for BAUT, when baby is asleep.

thanks

Mahesh, could you make your new "Mahesh" settings so one might be able to PM you? :shifty:

I wonder why your home PC is being so difficult.

hello Mahesh! good to be back in ...here! :) At some point, I stopped receiving newsletter too from UT. Then Fraser asked me to include UT email address to my phonebook so Yahoo would not view the newsletter as SPAM. It worked!

Many times too, i had to relog-in twice in BAUT. The problem I think in your case is your account in BAUT. Maybe mods can look at it. The other possibility is of course your browser. You already did something about it, doesn't seem to work. Have you tried logging in from another connection using another pc? If this works, there's something wrong with your system. Sometimes, even if I re-install my browser, problem persists. Only reformatting cleans everything and fixes the problem. Maybe some residual files (virus?) caused the problem...Hope this helps a bit...:)

Hello alf c

you may be right..thinking about it..this is how it went..
i asked Fraser to enable me to log on from home using same username/password. very kindly Fraser fixed that in a jiffy for me.
got newsletters regularly. no problems.

soon the merger, requesting not to re-register, as all will be ok.
ok ok m' thinks..this is fine. and then soon afterwards... contact lost, no newsletter, no nothin'.

now, when i log-on using my username/password but from diff email address (at home)..it just rotates and rotates, cyclical...i think this is where the problem is.

(am not sure what could be wrong with my pc at home...brand new dell 3000,
pentium 4, 80 gigs etc., anti-viral/ fire-walled)

so i am gonna re-register, start afresh at home (base alpha)

anyway. many thanks, hey, for your time and advice.
i'll see.
