While I like the list we have so far I miss some of the BABB ones like 'anxious' and 'banging your head against a wall'. Any chance for an expanded list of smilies in the future?

Brickwall I've got: http://xs45.xs.to/pics/05364/brickwall.gif but you'll have to http://xs45.xs.to/pics/05363/google.gif for the anxious one.

Thanks! I think the smileys on your website should pretty much cover it. Any site with a dancing monkey smiley , http://www.eknent.com/etc/smileys/monkeydance.gif , can't go wrong! :D

I, too, miss the great variety of smilies that the BABB used to have. Is there anyone we can contact on this board to see if we can get them back? I especially miss the "sick" smiley (the one that almost never worked).

Shouldn't be too hard. Those smilies are available for free download from the phpBB website.

Getting the smilies is easy. Getting them legally....

I am pretty sure the phpBB smilies are public domain.
EDIT: Sorry, too early to post. They're, of course, probably not public domain, but are release under GNU General Public License (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html).

I have added a bunch of smilies from the old BABB. I didn't add all of them, since vB already had variations on them. There are now 35 total; this should be enough for a while!

Could I suggest replacing the "rolleyes" with the old BABB one (http://www.profundis.se/files/ra/phpbb-rolleyes.gif)? I think the current one (http://www.profundis.se/files/ra/vb-rolleyes.gif) is just dull somehow.
What really bugs me is the ":o" smiley... Here it's labeled as "embarrasment" http://www.bautforum.com/images/icons/icon11.gif where it used to be "shock" in babb:

Difference is quite huge (ok i could live with that, but considering the old threads the difference is huge)

Hmmm, my option to use smilies seems to have disappeared.
Via what method are you replying to threads?
If you're posting using the Quick Reply box, smilies aren't displayed there.
If you click on the http://www.bautforum.com/images/buttons/reply.gif button (or http://www.bautforum.com/images/buttons/quote.gif when quoting others) you should see them in the interface.
If not, what browser & operating system are you using?

They used to be there, but they disappeared a short while ago. I'm using IE & XP.

Make sure you're using the standard or enhanced interfaces instead of the basic one.
Click on User CP
At the left sidebar, click on Edit Options
Scroll all the way down to the bottom, to the Message Editor Interface
Ensure you have the Standard Editor (or Enhanced Interface [WYSIWYG]) selected from the pull-down menu
Click on Save Changes at the bottom and give it another shot. :)

Welcome. I remember you mentioned something about the problem earlier on but thought you may have fixed it. Perhaps it was something pertaining to the latest forum software upgrade.
In any case, welcome back to smiley-world.

One other note about smilies, to all:
Including emotes in the public domain or of your own design hosted on your personal webspace is fine.
Linking smileys from sites that specifically allow the practice is fine.
However, please do not hotlink smileys from other message boards, copyrighted sources, or any other site/resource which doesn't grant specific permission for you to do so. Sites like this one (http://www.websmileys.com/) allow and encourage hotlinking from their site, but the vast majority do not.
There are examples of what not to do in this very thread (sorry Candy, not trying to single you out, just was curious about the "this stinks" smiley in your above post, so I peeked). That site's author, for example, states (http://www.cosgan.de/index.php?setlang=english):
Please do not use the smileys collected here to either decorate your own homepage or to link to them directly. This also applies to the direct incorporation into a forum software by a forum host. The use in self-refreshing pages is also to be refrained from as it increases the traffic volume enormously.
The same forum rules we have about hotlinking and copyright apply to emotes as well, so please follow them accordingly. I'll give people that have posted illicit varieties in this thread some time to review and edit their posts as necessary, but after that I'll have to do the editing for you.

Wolverine:
I suggest you reread the entire page (http://www.cosgan.de/index.php?setlang=english) at http://www.cosgan.de . Candy's usage is not only entirely appropriate, it is what the site is intended for.
On the following pages you will find a multitude of smileys that you can use to brighten up forum entries, emails and messages or simply to express yourself. To use these smileys, you can copy the respective URLs in different codes.
The behaviour that is prohibited is hotlinking to "your own homepage" or incorporating them into "forum software by a forum host". You clearly misunderstood it.

I went through 11 pages of my posts and deleted Cosgan Smilies early this morning, which oddly was not that many edits (<20). I was going to tackle the Birthday thread today, but thank goodness for Lance...
