Ola D has been kind enough to create 50 generic avatars that people can use. To choose your avatar, click on "User CP" at the upper left hand menu and then chose Avatar options. You should able to see a bunch of little pictures that span several pages. Pick the avatar the best matches your personality. Are you more Trifid Nebula, or Martian impact crater? Today I'm Mimas.

For the first time ever, I "made" myself an avatar. Hope there's no copyright stuff involved; I sort of couldn't resist ;).

Cool images. I've always believed that pictures say more than words.

Disney is famous for copyright issues on every occassion. E.g. http://www.snopes.com/disney/wdco/daycare.asp
It is also said, that Disney heavily lobbied to change US copyright laws (http://homepages.law.asu.edu/~dkarjala/OpposingCopyrightExtension/commentary/ChiTrib10-17-98.html) so Mickey Mouse isn't becoming public.

Is it possible to make it so that once an advatar is selected it disapears from the list?
I can imagine 30 ppl running around with the same one...

Thats a good incentive to get your own avatar. If anyone has an image and they want it converted / edited into an avatar, I'm good enough with Photoshop to be able to get you an avatar. That offer extends to everyone. Just email me your image.

Thats a good incentive to get your own avatar.Doesn't stop them copying it and then uploading as their custom avatar.

I think when it comes down to regular posters there are enough people who make up their own avatars that the ones in the database won't be repeated too often. One exception I've noted so far: a lot of people seem to really like the one of Neil Armstrong saluting the American flag on the moon! Wonder why. ;)
A general word to those crafting their own avatars worrying about copyrights: all pictures from NASA are considered public domain and hence you don't need to worry. Yay!
I may be missing something, but I don't see anyone's avatars anywhere. Where are they?

Go to User CP and Edit Options. In "Thread Display Options" make sure "Show Avatars" is checked.
Found it-- Thanks Trebuchet.

Don't know which one you mean, but there is no photo of Neil saluting existing. Must be Buzz.
