Well, I have been on UT for almost 1 1/2 years, and UT has helped me a lot. I first came across UT when I search 'astronomy' on google. I was rather new to the net, and UT was the first forum I saw. I liked it very much, and became a member. All the freinds I have made on the net are due to UT.
UT has developed much since it began. There used to be no other members online whenever I logged in. NOw there are atleast 3 or 4. There was no 'Questions and Answers' or 'Alternative Theories'. The number of members has risen from 300 to about 3000. UT has developed much May it become the busiest space forum on the net!
What re your memories of UT?

Nice people who have come and gone - Starrman, Parker, Weaselbunny, Faulkner et al.
May they return when their Sabbatical has concluded. :)

So, why don't we mail them and get them ( invite them ) back?

I think your idea is good, Randy; but they know we are here but for their own particular reasons they have paused/ceased posting for their own particular good reasons.
Most people attracted to this forum are, I suggest, intelligent and busy people and would have their priorities - many would have their children and family on top of their list followed by their work, sport, clubs and other activities.
WeaselBunny, for example, has taken on a new and demanding position and, as much as she would like to, cannot (yet) fit in the UT with her other love of motorcycling.
And we all know of others in her situation. They'll come back when they want to.
Mayby we should use our energies to invite others, of our friend, to participate. New Blood, you know!

I really like this forum. You can debate issues in a very mature fashion. As for people not being here... I know that I am personally very busy with teaching, grading etc. But it doesn't mean I won't be back!
As for fond memories I would have to say that the one thread (which seemed to keep on repeating itself for awhile) on life on Mars was truly hilarious.

My first memories of UT are associated with the closest approach of Mars to Earth. That's when I began to appreciate Mars and began to appreciate people here in UT. As for DP, Dame sounds great, Chook! :D

its a fine college where coming and going [as chook said] is but natural, they can rejoin, may be some locked topics can also unlock, like iron sun theory[if fraser permits] rest the memories of UT are very very soul touching, and learn me in a short period very big, there is no need of any tonic if we joins UT, the development is so nice and
Mr. Fraser the CEO is a mastermind man who is driving this forum very decently, the words are too short to express lot.sunil
