Nearly 30,000 Posts!

At this moment, we've made 29,590 posts... okay, 29,591 including this one... I reckon we'll hit 30,000 within 4 or 5 days...

Anyone care to guess the time and date of the 30,000th post?? :P

These forums are great-better than any online community I&#39;ve participated in before. Actually the post you call the 30000th post was more like 30400ish if you include the moderators only forum.

I didn&#39;t know there was a moderator forum...
I know you&#39;re a mod, but how do you know that the posts on that forum aren&#39;t included in the total post counts?

That&#39;s what I just wondered... I&#39;ll check the numbers next time I post there *S*

Also, to be fair, I don&#39;t know if the total number of posts includes the ones that have been deleted for whatever reason. There haven&#39;t been a whole boatload of those, but obvioulsy it would affect the stats slightly.

Anyway, at the end of the day, it&#39;s a bit like the Millennium... everyone celebrated Jan 1st 2000 even though the Millennium didn&#39;t truly start until Jan 1st 2001. We just like to celebrate the more obvious milestones :)

I bet it counts ones that have been deleted-every time something new is posted I bet its added to the &#39;counter.&#39; I don&#39;t think its programmed to subtract from that. Plus-I bet some of the older posts are deleted because there is not a whole lot of point in keeping them all in memory when no one goes back and reviews things that were posted 10 months ago. Anyway, bets on 50,000? 100,000? :D

Now that I do know about - every "old" post or topic is retained. You can go into Story Comments and reply to stories from June last year. The forums didn&#39;t start until July 8th last year so all the prior stories have that posted date but there&#39;s nothing to stop you replying to the news story that Opportunity has left for Mars LOL There&#39;s 91 pages of stories in that forum :)

So any posts from the start of the forums are all counted in the total :)

Looking at this its funny to reflect that ToSeek by himself is almost half-way now to 30,000 posts. This place really has grown.
