View Full Version : Saturn
I read on SpaceWeather.com that skywatchers in North-America and Europe could see Saturn near the Moon. So I openened the doors of the room my scope is in and I aimed at one of the many 'stars' I could see and... it was Saturn!! Despite the fact that it was so close to the moon, I've never seen anything like it before.

Check again tonight and tomorrow night. The bright "star" near the moon will be Jupiter.

You two are lucky you don't live in Toronto. Over the past couple of weeks we've been batting .000
Leonids - Fog
Mars and Uranus almost bangin' into each other Tuesday night - Thick overcast
Lunar occultation of Saturn last night - overcast
Happens all the time around here...

Plus it's damn cold. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Actually I think Toronto is a great city (in the summer).

I watched Jupiter too yesterdaynight and again this was a beautiful sight! I could see the four moons lined up perfectly. When I came home from a friend in the middle of the night (about 3 am) the sky was SO clear. It's a shame that my scope is in my parents' bedroom /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif.

Check out Jupiter tonight, and you can watch Europa chase Io across the face.
OK, so you'll have to stay up awhile...

Jan. 30, Io and Callisto are in front of Jupiter at the same time--I think the timing is right for viewers in Europe, but not NA
