I have a Celestron c 11 and the usual stuff with it , and also starry night pro... and am intrigued with the ease that some people find night sky objects with the touch of click or two... ..........
Question is : Is there some sort of device that I can buy , build, borrow or steal, that will allow me to do this and lelet me spend more time really getting to what I want to look at? ;)

Starry Night Pro has some generic links out for telescope control, though myself, using a Meade SCT with its own GoTo unit, I haven't really evaluated it. There's an e-mail list for SNP that might link you to someone able to answer your specific questions, given that I don't know whether or how the Celestron in question can be readily linked to the SNP software.

I've put off exploring these options, even though they would add another dimension to observations, (1) because I cannot presently set up my scope in a semi-permanent location, and (2) I don't wish to risk damage from temperature extremes that might come to the laptop, unless I were able to keep it in a relatively protected environment, connected by longish cables to the scope itself.

You might also start by checking SNP's help files and documentation for clues as how to proceed.
