"Hawaii's bid to have one of the Navy's 12 aircraft carriers shifted to Pearl Harbor has picked up another endorsement...Currently, the Navy splits its 12 carriers between the Pacific [one in Japan] and the Atlantic...The last time a carrier was based at Pearl Harbor was during World War II..."

Are we expecting a war in the pacific or Asia? Didn't FDR place the fleet there to irritate Japan in the 1940s?

Yeah... but I doubt that's the reasoning for this current idea.

To fly fighter cap around any SDI/Aegis/arsenal ships and X-band platforms they will be parking off the coast of the DPRK--like they won't just fire their cruise missiles, sink our SDI surface fleet (stark or cole style)--then launch future ICBMs.
It's why I want Space-Based systems.
Because:
#1 A killer satellite goes through boost phase like an ICBM--and is thus another target...and
#2--NASA gets some BMDO money to build HLLV's with that can be used for exploration purposes as well--so even if you don't like Star Wars--we space advocates get better use of our tax money than in ships the DPRK is going to send to the bottom if given half a chance. We can't even keep Cessna's at bay from the White House!

Are we expecting a war in the pacific or Asia?...My money's on the Philippines, to begin with. Plenty of unrest there, American spooks have been recognized poking about and the mortality rate of journalists there is among the highest in the world. Hawaii has also been selected for Stryker Brigade Combat Teams and has the terrain for jungle training.

Last I heard, the Stryker brigade for that Hawaiian Division was to be based out of Fort Lewis, Washington. That's where a pal of mine is being shipped to join up with his new platoon vehicles.

Pacific waters are going to be hot in the next years, and I´m not talking about global warming. Deploying a carrier in Hawaii makes much sense.
