There should be no shortage of volunteers to test this (http://english.pravda.ru/main/18/90/360/14708_sex.html) hypothesis! :P

No wonder I've been sick lately. <SIGH> I guess I'm just going to have to take better care of myself from now on. For the record I do so only under protest....:D

I though that the virus was so prone to genetic mutation, that the immune system could not develop an antibody to nullify it, like it can do with a pox virus.

Odd.

Well they are claiming phagocyte based killing and get a load of this quote:

Phagocytes are cells that help the body rid itself of various ailments. This is how they work: once they locate an alien body, they penetrate it and trigger self-destruction.

On a serious note (I know, I'm in big trouble here  ), I can think of two alternative explanations why this "cure" might work. I have found when I have a cold that sometimes physical activity, such as running, helps. I suspect this might be because you breath more deeply and that might help clear out the congestion. I also find that getting a little overheated, either by exercise, or just a very hot bath or piling on the blankets helps, again I suspect because the warmth might help clear congestion. I also think the increased temperature might help the body fight the disease (is that why you get a fever?). I also wonder if the increased blood flow might help.

I suspect that the form of exercise described in the article might have a similar effects.
