Ah, the wonder of our true home in the big scale of things...

Upstate in Frost Valley (its in NY), I saw the Milky Way almost exactlly like that..minus the purple and stuff..it truely was amazing.

I still feel that way. Been doing astronomy since I was a child. Here is one of my pics of the Milky Way. Taken at 6200 ft on Mt. Kobau using ISO 800 for ten minutes on double arm drive (two pic composite)
