I saw an advert today for some chocolate sweet
Starts off at a museum where the father is telling his children that in the 15th Century they believed the world was flat.
A Big Hippo bursts through the door belittleing flat shaped snacks and shows the rounded hippo shaped cholate snacks from Kinder.
(Same company that made the chocolate eggs with plastic toys in that some said little kiddies choked to death on. (I will leave THAT ONE to others)
BAD People knew well before the 15th century that the Earth was round. In fact Aretostenies (sp?) even calculated a good aproximation for its size.
My understanding is that the idea that people thought the Earth was flat in those days came from Victorian antiquarians.
Any thoughts on that?
