I'm trying to join www.physicsforums.com (http://www.physicsforums.com). I went through the registration, and it says I should have gotten an e-mail with an activation link already. I've gotten zilch. Does anyone have contact info for the admins there? I can't do a PM 'cos I'm not activated, and I can't find a "contact us" link.
I had the same trouble with the JREF forum -- I didn't get the e-mail until I used my work address.
And no, I have no "delete with extreme prejudice" filters set up, that I know of.

I had the same problem on a couple of different forums. For some unknown reason, the verification e-mail never got to me -- even after I communicated with the admin from a different e-mail address. I had to re-register with a e-mail address from a different provider.
I'll be glad to forward a message for you -- just PM me here.

Does your email address contain any odd characters? Any characters other than alpha-numerics, the at sign, and dots? My domain name has a hyphen in it, and every now and again, some site or another's database code will choke on the hyphen. Happens all the time with my domain registrar, actually. They usually wind up having to update my registration manually every year. (Come to think of it, I haven't heard from them this year. Hmm. Note to self.)

Nothing strange in the email address. 12 letters, an @, and a . All I can think of is that the ISP (att.net) is being "helpful." But to get them to stop it, I have to know what to tell them to let through.

In my experience, the admins of such sites are helpful wrt working with you to solve these sorts of issues. It isn't necessarily always easy to find a way to contact them directly (i.e. without being a registered member), but it's worth a try.
And why are admins usually helpful? Because these sorts of problems get in the way of interested people - such as yourself - joining. Of course, there is a large group of people, and sites, that suffer no matter what (tech-savvy workarounds excepted): those in China, and access to the sites by people in China. The way the Great Internet Wall of China works includes automatic blocking of all Blogger sites, for example, and of all sites hosted by entities which also host the likes of FaLongGong sites (at least it used to work that way). But that surely doesn't apply to you!

One option is to find someone you know who already is registered there, and might be willing to contact admins for you.

Did that a couple of days ago.

And it appears to have worked. I posted a summary of bob bobur's angle "trisection" which got the thread shut down hard.
Thanks, pantaz. But for some reason, att.net is throwing away anything that comes from gmail...
