Christie's East in NYC is going to auction several space related items next month. One of the items is a set of patches from the suit James Irwin wore on the lunar surface during Apollo 15. These patches still have some actual lunar dust particles in them! In addition, they will also auction a traverse map used by Charles Duke on Apollo 16 which is also covered with moon dust.
The value of the patches is estimated at $250,000 to $350,000 and the map's value is estimated at $80,000 to $120,000. Since the HB's have been known to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on research, it should be no problem for one of them to obtain these items and have them analyzed.
