The Universe we inhabit inspires some of the biggest questions about meaning, purpose, origins, and endings. However, the study of the Universe is also a serious science, blending aspects of astronomy and physics into one of the most dynamic areas of research. So, in that spirit, CosmoAcademy is offering a new class: Introduction to Cosmology! Update: we’re pushing back the start of the class to a later date! Please keep checking this space or our EventBrite page for updated information. [...]

This occurs as the plane of the solar system is roughly in line with the orbit of our moon but each planet and moon has its own little wobble or slight inclination to the plane and every now and then there is a noteworthy conjunction.
Note from Pamela – We are pleased to announce that following our successful experiment running informal classes last year, we’ve decided to expand the CosmoAcademy program. CosmoQuest is bringing in Dr. Matthew Francis (another astronomer!) to run the program. Ray Sanders will continue teaching, but Matthew’s leadership will allow us to teach even more classes, and you’ll be able to learn from even more faces, as together we work to learn how to more effective do and talk about science. Teachers—it’s not too soon to begin planning that summer “vacation!” Now that we’ve all made it through the holidays, it’s time to cast our minds and hearts forward towards the next big break in the school year—June, July, and August. Although most teachers don’t have three full months away from their classrooms anymore, for many teachers at least some portion of this time is set aside to take a few deep breaths, re-energize, and learn new things to take back [...]
