The full impact of sequestration on NASA EPO and other activities is still unknown. I hate saying that one more time, but it’s the unfortunate truth. I have received an official copy of one of the many memos going around regarding EPO cuts. From it I learned (and no, I’m not going to leak it): 1) Grants are currently to continue as planned, 2) While most EPO activities are currently *suspended* they *are not cancelled*, 3) Everything else is a bit muddled and confused but we do know that we’ll be reviewed on a case by case basis and there will be mechanisms to apply to get [...]
On March 22, 2013 we found out that many NASA EPO programs will be suspended as a direct result of US budgetary sequestration. The full ramifications are still being learned, but we are proactively working to raise money to make sure that CosmoQuest can continue to support its staff and its programs. As we are able, we will also use any monies we raise to contract amazing people whose jobs are negatively impacted by budgetary cuts.
